What makes an Oregon Trail'R teardrop different from other campers?
We build our trailers like giant custom cabinets — void-less Baltic birch plywood joined with dado-and-rabbet joinery, waterproof glues, sealed end-grain, and marine-grade materials throughout. They're made one at a time to each customer's configuration, not mass-produced, and they're designed to still be on the road decades from now.
Are wooden teardrop trailers durable? Won't the wood rot?
Built correctly, a wood teardrop is extremely durable. We use void-less Baltic birch (no internal voids to trap water), waterproof glues, marine-grade materials, and carefully sealed end-grain — the same principles as fine boat and cabinet building. Our off-road "ALPHA" models go a step further with a seamless polyurea coating sprayed over the entire wooden shell instead of aluminum siding, so there are no exterior panel seams to fail.
Can Oregon Trail'R teardrops go off-road or overlanding?
Yes — our ALPHA line is built for it. The TerraDrop ALPHA and FronTear ALPHA share the same off-road chassis — a custom tubular-steel frame with heavy-duty independent suspension and the seamless polyurea shell — so they're closely matched in size, weight, and capability; the main difference between them is body shape. The more compact DoDrop ALPHA brings that same off-pavement toughness in a lighter package. All are made to go where the pavement ends.
How much does a custom Oregon Trail'R teardrop cost?
Pricing is simple — a base price plus the options you choose, with no confusing trim tiers. Starting prices run from the TerraDrop ALPHA from $24,000, the FronTear ALPHA from $24,000, the FronTear from $18,000, the DoDrop ALPHA from $13,250, the DoDrop from $8,500. What's the difference between a teardrop and a squaredrop trailer?
A teardrop has the classic rounded, tapered "teardrop" profile; a squaredrop keeps the same compact towable footprint but with a more upright, boxier rear that adds interior and galley room. Both are small, hard-sided, tow-behind campers with a sleeping cabin and (usually) a rear galley kitchen. Oregon Trail'R builds in this teardrop/squaredrop family.
Are Oregon Trail'R trailers made in the USA?

How light are they, and what can tow one?
They're built to tow easily. The DoDrop, our most compact model, starts around 550 lbs dry — light enough to tow behind almost anything; the larger and off-road models weigh more and pair better with a more capable tow vehicle. Each model page lists its specs, and the online builder shows weights as you configure.
Can I rent a teardrop trailer before buying one?
Yes — renting first is a great way to decide. We rent several models so you can live with one on a real trip before you commit to a build.
